Saturday and Sunday BEK will open it’s doors to show a little bit of what we’ve been up to lately. All project rooms will be filled with sound, video and electronics that has been developed at BEK. BGO1

The studios at BEK has been in frequent use recently by artists preparing their work for the great BG01 – exhibition at Bergen Art Museum. TelArt by Bjørnar Habbestad and Jørgen Larsson is back “remixed”, Eva Ljosvoll presents her new video work In Midair, Trond Lossius has been refining his LMW partnership with the help of BEK’s new field recording equipment, and Maia Urstad has re-mounted Sound Barrier.

Borggården USF

BEK has been awarded the white walls and high ceilings of Borggården USF during the period 11 – 29 October. Mattias Arvastsson and Maria Øy Lojo will present their brand new videoworks. Interactions between moving images and spatial surfaces will be accentuated. Web-TV

Phonophani at Landmark

Phonophani, a.k.a. Espen Sommer Eide, is performing at Landmark, Bergen Kunsthall, the 20th of October, as part of the EKKO festival. His new CD Kreken is now released on Rune Grammofon and has received good reviews. So prepear yourself for a glorious EKKO-evening together with Phonophani, Jeff Carey and Tim Hecker.

Moviestar at Stedelijk Museum s-Hertogenbosch

Moviestar is an interactive installation by Marieke Verbiesen & Neeltje Sprengers. The installation moulds old and new media together in order to create a reallife moving filmset. Classic 16mm film, animation, robotics, sound and motiontracking are used to simulate a real life filmset where visitors play the main role.

At The Zoo

Karen Kipphoff and Trond Lossius collaborates on a videowork that is to be presented at the ICCI 360 panoramic video festival in Plymouth (UK) . The work is titled “At the Zoo”. It’s an anthropomorphic audiovisual composition.

NIME 2011 – Call for participation

The call for NIME 2011, 11th International Conference on New Interfaces for Musical, is out. The call is also asking for contributions towards an exhibition on sonic interaction design that will be curated in collaboration with the EU COST IC0601 Action on Sonic Interaction Design (SID). The exhibition, produced by BEK, will take place at the Norwegian Museum of Science, Technology and Medicine.

Romklang

BEK has in recent weeks been the scene of the last updates before artist Jørgen Larsson presents his new installation Romklang at the restaurant Soria Mora in Oslo. Here guests can affect the sound in the room through a firmer grip on the ketchup bottle.
