Espen Sommer Eide in “SPECTRES Composer l’écoute / Composing listening”

Espen Sommer Eide, adviser in art and technology at BEK, has written the chapter Exercises in Non-Human Listening in this new book from Shelter Press. Stian Remvik in “Digital Dynamics in Nordic Contemporary Art” 

In this new book edited by Tania Toft Ag, game developer and programmer Stian Remvik, who is affiliated with BEK on a freelance basis, shares his thoughts on how the digital inspires and influences his work. The book will be launched at Scandinavia House on February 23rd, and is soon to be found in BEK’s library!

The Instrument Makers

The developers at BEK would agree with the idea that they could be compared to an instrument maker when they develop software for artists; although BEK’s intention is primarily to enable artists to develop the instruments themselves.

Hollow Scenes is the second release from Norwegian electronic producer Klunks. The record was made at BEK, and is released at the Seattle label Hush Hush Records.

Paper and lectures at SMC 2016

The paper Authoring spatial music with SpatDIF Version 0.4 by Jan C. Schacher, Nils Peters, Trond Lossius and Chikashi Miyama will be presented at the 13th Sound and Music Comuting Conference and Summer School in Hamburg.

In addition to attending the conference, Trond Lossius has been invited to lecture at the Summer School, offering perspectives on Current issues in multimedia performance, and a lecture on Ambisonics and SpatDIF.

Spanish paper on Ambisonic Toolkit for Reaper

The latest edition of Ideas Sónicas / Sonic Ideas (Vol. 8 No. 16) offers a Spanish translation of a paper by Trond Lossius and Joseph Anderson on the Ambisonic Toolkit for Reaper plugins.

Ideas Sónicas is published by CMMAS – Centro Mexicano para la Música y Artes Sonoras.

Line Horneland: The sound in-between

“Lyden i mellomrommet” (The sound in-between) is the master thesis by Line Horneland, completed at Stord/Haugesund University College in the spring 2016. The text is a critical reflection on various aspects of artistic development relating to the interactive vocal installation “Lyden i mellomrommet”. The installation was open to public at Sola ruinkirke January 2016.

Main supervisor has been Magne Ingolv Espeland, and Trond Lossius at BEK has been assistant supervisor.

Trond Lossius: Losing myself in the world

Trond Lossius has contributed a chapter to the book Labor Mülheim. Künstlerisches Forschen im Feldern zwischen Prekarität und Kreativität, edited by Jürgen Krushe. The book reflects on artistic research projects carried out in Mülheim in the Ruhr region, and is published by Jovis Verlag GmbH.
