Verktøykassen: openFrameworks and face recognition, part 2

In this second part of Vertkøykassen, we will look at several ways you can use face recognition. We will take one step further from the first part, where we learned to set up openFrameworks and the add-onxFaceTracker2 that does face recognition. It is recommended that you attend the first part or have experience with Xcode and programming.

Verktøykassen: Introduction to openFrameworks and face recognition

In this Verktøykassen we will look into openFrameworks which is a creative tool consisting of C ++ libraries with open source code such as openGL (Graphic Language) and openCV (Computer Vision). openFrameworks is designed designed to assist the creative process by providing a simple and intuitive framework for experimentation.

Listening Through: Machine Learning for Sound-Makers – A workshop led by Luke Fischbeck

This will be a short, intensive workshop exploring the current state of machine learning techniques for working creatively with audio. As a set of approaches for predictive pattern-matching—classifying, categorizing, translating, generating, etc—machine learning has been applied to everything from captions to gestures to maps to MIDI. Audio, with its intensely complex set of perceptual and contextual resonances, provides a tricky…

SPIRE by Hilde Hauan

Welcome to the opening of the new artwork SPIRE created by Hilde Hauan for Voss Gymnas, on Monday February 10th at 13.30 – 15.00. Hauan has based the spire (sprout) motif from the traditional åttebladrosa (eight-leaf-rose) motif, and developed the pattern that has been sandblasted onto the glass. Verktøykassen invites #1: 3D modeling and CNC milling in artistic practice, with Magnhild Øen Nordahl/Aldea

As part of Verktøykassen (the Toolbox), we invite artists to teach us things we cannot ourselves. Visual artist Magnhild Øen Nordahl will speak about how she uses 3D modeling as a tool and conceptual point of departure in her artistic practice and in her ongoing artistic research project at the Academy of Fine Arts, KMD/UiB. After the presentation, she will…

Sabine Popp: Relay (how to use a ship to press the button of a camera)

Stian Ramvik at BEK is helping Sabine Popp with synchronization of video material for the upcoming exhibition Relay (how to use a ship to press the button of a camera) which opens at Visningsrommet USF on December 3. The video material forms the framework for a performance, and Popp need to easily control the synchronized videos as part of this.…
