Seminar concerning Nordic journal for research on and in the arts

Oslo University College (OUC) has taken the initiative to establish a Nordic journal for research on and in the arts. Work on the magazine kicks off with a two-day seminar where the journal profile will be discussed. Trond Lossius at BEK will join the editorial board.

Vampyr

Claudio Forlini has started the shooting of his new film project “VAMPYR”, an experimental sound art film, though without sharp canine teeth or perforated arteries. Still the essence of vampirism will be highly present.

Jamoma workshop

BEK is happy to host this years Jamoma development workshop with 10 developers from France, United States and Norway. The main focus will be on implementations issues for the upcoming 0.6 version, automated testing prosedures, integration between Jamoma and other platforms, and how to move forward the coming years. Of cource, the importance of intense late night discussions will not be neglected.

Marieke Verbiesen, who works as system administrator at BEK, is currently on a 3-month artist-in-residency in New York. She also use the opportunity to hold a video- and animation workshop in Calgary, Canada.

SA2010 videoscreening program – first Sofia, now Newcastle

This spring, ISIS Arts, BEK, Maur Prosjekter og Galleri 3,14 curated a video screening program with artists from South Africa. The screening was a part of this summer’s exhibition Contemporary Artists from South Africa, and was also excepted at the Digital Art Festival in Sofia 13. – 17. September. Now, in December, ISIS Arts is presenting the program in the Eldon Square Shopping Centre in Newcastle.

Asbjørn Blokkum Flø : Analogue I – X

Asbjørn Blokkum Flø is currently working on a new BEK-commissioned music piece. He describes his work as follows: -Analogique IX is a 60 minute long electronic music piece where I try to get back to the electronic music’s musical core through a limitation in materials and methods. In connection with this work I will investigate new artistic concepts and compositional techniques._

Nordheim by Candlelight – memorial consert for Arne Nordheim

Thorolf Thuestad from BEK runs the electronic processing when the BIT20 ensemble invites to Arne Norheim’s memorial concert in Håkonshallen the 21st of November. The cooperation between Thorolf Thuestad and BIT20 is a sequel from a larger Nordheim project that BEK was a part of in 2006.
