Engastromyths, Quakers and Shamans is a performance created specially by Fig. for this Ny Musikk event. Making use of voice, electronics, drawing, video, noise, text and movement, it is a fantasy of interconnected actions, questions and constraints, drawn directly from the mechanics of the media used. Pulmonic ingressive speech describes the process of producing sounds, single words or even entire phrases while breathing in. It is a technique common to engastromyths (ventriloquists) and shamans and was famously used by George Fox, founder of the Quaker movement, to give his voice an air of mystery and inspiration.
