Jeremy Welsh and Trond Lossius is participating at the 6th International Conference on Small Island Cultures Guernsey, June 22 — 25 (2010). They will be presenting Ghost Architecture, an audio-visual performance based on material recorded around the sites of 2nd. world war German fortifications on islands off the west coast of Norway, near Bergen.

This week is the las chance to experience the exhibition at the Gallery 3,14, which presents two mayor installations and 12 videoworks. Gallery hours are 11am – 5pm, Tuesday – Friday, and 12am – 4pm, Saturday – Sunday. Hobbs and Neustetter have rebuilt the stairs with materials found in the Gallery’s storerooms. Webb has recorded prayers in and around Bergen, replayed through 12 speakers on a floor carpet.

Bergen International Festival’s opening ceremony at the Bergenhus Fortress will be coloured by Ole Hamre’s work Lydverkeri, a piece for boats- and city sounds. The technical solutions required has been developed and put into action at BEK.

Contributing to the upcoming exhibition in Gallery 3,14, Stephen Hobbs and Marcus Neustetter have commenced their residency at AiR Bergen. From base camp at USF Verftet, their first expedition is island-jumping in Austevoll.

The exhibition is open 19. – 23. May at KHiB campus. The students at the Dep. of Fine Art show their work at Bergen Kjøtt in Skuteviken. This part of the exhibition is titled “2 COOL 4 SCHOOL” and is open 19. – 30. May.

Trond Lossius participates at a GDIF SpatDIF meeting at Ircam. The goal of the meeting is to advance on the GDIF-Gesture Description Interchange Format and SpatDIF-Spatial sound Description Interchange Format, discussing current issues and choices made by the different research groups working with gesture or spatialization data, and decide on further collaborative actions.

The South African artist James Webb has started his residency period at AiR Bergen. His stay also is connected to an exhibition at Galleri 3,14, where his sound installation “Prayer” will be one of the art works shown.
