Mahlet Ogbe: The Ambience of Bereavement

Mahlet Ogbe’s contribution to the new exibition at Gallery 3,14, is a video piece based on how grief and mourning is expressed in her homeland Eritrea. It’s shown inside the old bank vault, which gives a close and intens experience of what this videowork is about.

Real-time spatialisation in audio-visual installations

Artists Talk – Trond Lossius

Trond Lossius is invited to give self presentation at MUU galleria in Helsinki, discussing recent works with a focus on sound installations using Max/MSP. The presentation is part of an Interactive Sound art class organized by Muu Media Base from December 2009 until March 2010. The course is focusing on sound and installation using the Max/MSP software.

PhD student at BEK

Marìa Andueza Olmedo is writhing a PhD thesis about Sound Art called “Urban Site-Specific Sound Installations”. Thanks to a grant of the NILS mobility project for researchers and artists, she will move from Madrid to Bergen for 3 months, to continue her research at BEK and at the National Academy of the Arts.

Ezequiel Menalled is a Argentin composer based in Netherlands. He is currently artist in residency at USF. He will be presenting his work, and also provide a brief introduction to the software AC Toolbox. AC Toolbox is a program for algorithmic og computer-aided composition developed by Paul Berg at the Institute of Sonology, The Hague, Netherlands.

The 6th Call for Short-Term Scientific Missions (STSMs) within COST-IC0601 Action on Sonic Interaction Design is now out. STSMs are aimed at strengthening the existing networks by allowing scientists to go to an institution or laboratory in another COST member state to foster collaboration and exchange. For this weeks session on advanced topics in real-time processing of media, we will be looking Fast Fourier Transforms and spectral analysis and processing. Fourier Transforms can be used for analysis and processing of audio and image in the frequency domain. loadbang is a collaboration between BEK and KHIB.
