Workshop on grant application writing

Due to the high number of participants signed up, the workshop will be taking place at Galleri 3.14 instead. How do you write good applications that might secure grants for your art projects? In collaboration with VISP a one day workshop on grant application writing is offered. Instructor is BEK staff member Trond Lossius. The workshop will be in Norwegian.

Classical stereoscopy / workshop

In the workshop we will experiment with different stereo techniques, focusing on the original technology from the mid 1800’s. During the course, you will be making your first stereo images, and build your own classic stereoscope.

Sound in space – workshop and concert

The use of multichannel surround sound is by now commonly used in a wide range of applications, including film production, gaming, electronic music, video and sound installations and works for stage. This event starts out with a number of hands-on presentations offering an introduction to work on spatial sound. The event concludes with a concert presenting works by Ruben Sverre Gjertsen and Hans-Gunter Lock.

New video by Eva Ljosvoll

Eva Ljosvoll shows her new video work En Odyssé at the joint exhibition Naturescape at Nordnorsk kunstnersenter, Svolvær. Naturescape is a study of nature’s potential as an opinion carrier in the Arts, and opens Saturday 29th October at 13:00. En Odyssé has been edited at BEKs video studio. The exhibition has previously been shown at Gallery Boa in Oslo and Lørenskog kunstforening.

Jamoma Audio Workshop

Four of the Jamoma developers are meeting in Kansas City for a one week workshop focusing on audio processing. As part of the program developers will be giving artist talks at the University of Missouri – Kansas City and an improvisational concert featuring the artists and programmers behind Jamoma at Charlotte Street Foundation.

Claudio Forlini : Film and Sound at 3,14

Thursday 20 October Claudio Forlini presents his new short film Vampyr, and plays drone-progressions on his purpose-built sound machine _Entropia. Both projects are co-produced by BEK and realized in our studio- and project spaces.

Mindbox

With the audio-visual triptych MindBox Christian Graupner, Roberto Zappalà, Norbert Schnell & Nils Peters have created an interactive installation and an electro-acoustic music instrument. The audience operates the levers and buttons of a modified one-armed-bandit and thereby remixes the pre-recorded music/video of a beatboxer that is displayed on three large screens and by speakers above the machine.

Reprogrammering av Knut Vaage’s Elektra

Victoria Johnson and Thorolf Thuestad are currently working in the project room at BEK reprogramming the composition Electra by Knut Vaage for electric violin and computer. The work was composed in 2003 and premiered at the Autunale Festival the same year. Sound programming was done by Thorolf Thuestad in 2003, supported by BEK.

Loadbang: Conversation on the sound installation at Håkon’s Hall

From the summer onwards the sound installation “Lines converging at a distance” by Trond Lossius has been presented at Håkon’s Hall. This Monday there will be a talk and conversation about the work, touching upon the artistic process as well as the technical aspects of the installation.
