Music Tech Fest is the free festival of music ideas, mixing performances and experiments, hacks, demos, and installations. Since 2012 Music Tech Fest has been redefining how music is perceived, performed and experienced. It is now time to build some new formats for music.

Material Vision – Silent Reading is a film and series of prints by Espen Sommer Eide, based on the creation of new musical instruments and a performance developed on Bear Island. Exhibition opening at Trykkeriet, and filmscreening at Landmark.
Gisle Martens Meyer’s commissioned work Bow Corpse for BIT20 Ensemble premieres at Nattjazz. Some development is done at BEKs Sound Studio & Project Room, and Friday 16. at 12.00 Gisle will present the main features in his project, and play some samples.
Joost Rekveld will give a presentation of his work and underlying research interests. He will mostly talk about recent projects through the lens of his current thinking about ‘Open-Ended Machines’. He will show how his fascinations with complex systems, sensory augmentation and the materiality of computing underly his abstract moving image and light works.
SOLUND LIGHT ART FESTIVAL 2014 focuses on light as a medium for art and experiences. The goal of the project is to create a local, national and international commitment for light and visual expression. Solund municipality is located where the Sognefjord meets the North sea, and much of the activities will take place in and around Hardbakke center, in the November darkness.
Artists Marieke Verbiesen & Birk Nygaard will present their works at Lydgalleriet Thursday 23. October at 8PM.
“Mayhem Machine” by Verbiesen is an audiovisual instrument, and Nygaards «Dialogues Prologue» is two wall clocks, programmed to interact with music.
In addition to Warp and Weft, BEK contributed to a fue more events at the Borealis festival this year.
During a short talk, Esther Tuypens will discuss Apichaya Wanthiang’s exhibition Without Waiting for Her Reply in relation to her research on Aby Warburg. The talk will put forth some ideas concerning the installation as an object and producer of knowledge.
