The MA Degree Show in Fine Arts of the Arts department at Bergen College of Ars and Design opens at Bergen kunsthall Friday April 12. BEK has assisted the development of the work Scale, Etude I & II by Trine Hylander Friis.
Eva Ljosvoll’s video work En Odyssé will be showing at Galleri 3,14 in Bergen from 12 April – 2 June. Opening Friday 12 April, 18.00. En Odyssé, where plants unpredictable growth are combined with the movement in the work of container shipping, has been edited at BEKs video studio.
At Konsthall C in Stockholm Elin Øyen Vister will be presenting the sound installation “Soundscape Røst – A listening lounge”. She will also be creating a site specific multi-channel sound installation for the basement of Konsthall C with material from Soundscape Røsy archives and sounds from the room itself. The solution for multichannel playback for the basement installation has been developed at BEK.
Lydgalleriet presents Collision Index, a multimedia collective speculating on the sound of mechanics, meaning, language and visuality. An arsenal of smaller machines and sculptural objects interacts aurally and physically. Sometimes controlled, sometimes randomly, a hybrid of installation, concert, theater and text.
Entry Denied is an exhibition and a film program (Exiles), organized by the newly formed artist group Exiles. Their aim is to promote knowledge and discussion about Norwegian and international asylum and refugee policy in the hope of influencing it in a more humane direction. You’ll find Entry Denied at Visningsrommet USF, Cinemateket and Bergen offentlige bibliotek. BEK supports Exiles with equipment, project space, programming and other technical assistance.

What happens when sound is being absorbed rather than reflected? How do we subconciously use hearing to navigate space. Experience variations from absolute, pressing silence to illusions of soundcapes in one of the most fascinating rooms to be found in Bergen.
The sound installation “Lontano” lasts about half an hour and can be experienced during the Borealis Festival – from 6 to 10 March – every hour between 12 and 16. There is very limited space, so sign up in advance.
On the first of March, Espen Sommers Eide’s project Dead Language Poetry is opening in NO.5 at Bergen Kunsthall. This winter, Espen has used BEKs project room to develop, build and test a sample of self-made instruments, or “Philosophical Instruments” as he calls them. These will constitute the main component of the exhibition, and relate to different aspects of language and language’s transience.
