POW Ensemble presentation and concert

POW Ensemble played the Borealisfestival 2009 with electronic tap dancing. Now they are back in Bergen, this time with an electronic dissection of the guitar. In addition to the Landmark concert on Sunday, they will present their work and techniques at BEK on Monday 26. October

Texiles as a sound affecting material – aesthetical inquiries

This workshop, headed by Margareta Zetterblom, Trond Lossius and Hilde Hauan Johnson, investigates possible relationships between textiles and sound. Textiles can shape stage and installation spaces cisually, at the same time as modifying the acoustic properties of the space.

Listening…: The Art of Noise

BEK introduce a new regular activity labeled Listening to Donald Judd… in collaboration with Bergen National Academy of the Arts. At regular intervals we will meet to listen to and discuss selected works of contemporary music and sound art, accompanied by relevant literature. The first session will be focusing on futurism, and in particular the manifesto The Art of Noise, written by Luigo Russolo in 1913.

loadbang: Using multi-touch interfaces

BEK introduce a new regular activity, loadbang, in collaboration with Bergen National Academy of the Arts. At regular intervals wee will offer a meeting place for artists and students working on real-time processing of media using software such as Max, SuperCollider and Pd, for exchange and discussions on a number of advanced topics. The first meeting will be focusing on the use of multi-touch interfaces.

Publication on commision by composer Alwynne Pritchard

Don’t touch me, you don’t know where I’ve been was a commision by BEK from composer Alwynne Pritchard, premiered in 2008. The 7th issue of the Sensuous knowledge publication series on artistic research, is dedicated to two texts discussing the work, by the composer herself and Roar Sletteland, former director at BEK. An installation version of the work will be presented at Solstrand as part of the program for the 2009 Sensuous knowledge conference.
