Submit a portrait of yourself here www.gruppebilde.bek.no, and become part of a group image with Bergen’s residents! Using technology that interprets photographs and creates new images, artist Toril Johannessen will create a comprehensive group image based on submitted portrait photos. The final image will become two large tapestries for Bergen City Hall where people and their elected representatives meet. Everyone who lives in Bergen is hereby invited to participate.

In February, BEK presented Warning – the trail – turn left – turn right, a one-night exhibition of works produced during the workshop Returning to Actuality. Between April 23rd – May 10th, BEK will present a selection of projects reflecting on the technological challenges facing our current and future cities. The projects take a range of temporal and spatial formats, including single performances, workshops, an exhibition, a sound app and a video programme on loop.

This will be a short, intensive workshop exploring the current state of machine learning techniques for working creatively with audio. As a set of approaches for predictive pattern-matching—classifying, categorizing, translating, generating, etc—machine learning has been applied to everything from captions to gestures to maps to MIDI.
