nyMusikk invites you on a sound excursion to the high-end speaker factory SEAS in Moss, starting with a bus ride from Oslo that includes a literary lecture on sound by UK musician, author and critic David Toop. The anechoic chamber at SEAS features a sound installation by Trond Lossius, and in the factory space, vocalist and composer Stine Janvin Motland will demonstrate a new measuring and musical instrument that detects and regenerates body frequencies
A series of new ectro-acoustic works by composition students at the Grieg Academy are presented as part of the Drop In program during the Beren International Festival.
Material Vision – Silent Reading is a film and series of prints by Espen Sommer Eide, based on the creation of new musical instruments and a performance developed on Bear Island. Exhibition opening at Trykkeriet, and filmscreening at Landmark.
The choral work “for stadig å bli“ (again and again, to become) deals with listening and distance. The general layout is created by Knut Vaage, based on an initiative from Sissel Lillebostad. Gneis, with conductor Tore Kloster, shapes the piece on site.
The last two weeks, Maia Urstad has been in BEKs sound studio, preparing for the Barents Spektakel. Radio Barents – a radio performance is an 8-channel musical piece for portable radios, where performers move around and among the audience, carrying the sound, to make an ever changing sound atmosphere.
BEK collaborated with Victoria Johnson in the preparations for her concert in Logen, Sunday 25th of May. Here, new works were performed; music that is breaking boundaries between acoustic and electronic music, which in the performance caters to almost all senses.
Hospice Lazy is a new collaboration between the Alpaca Ensemble and Bergen-based British composer Alwynne Pritchard. BEK has supported the project with rehearsal space and equipment.
SOLUND LIGHT ART FESTIVAL 2014 focuses on light as a medium for art and experiences. The goal of the project is to create a local, national and international commitment for light and visual expression. Solund municipality is located where the Sognefjord meets the North sea, and much of the activities will take place in and around Hardbakke center, in the November darkness.
