The Art of Violin Playing is a Neither Nor music-theatre production for 2 violinists, 2 dancers, 4 robotic arms, vocalist, electronics + additional performers. A work-in-progress performance will be given at o espaço do tempo, Portugal, on August the 29th and again at Cornerteatret, Bergen, on September the 9th. Thorolf Thuestad has been busy at BEKs project space this summer, developing the 4 robotic wooden arms for the show.
The End(s) of Electronic Literature Conference will take place August 5-7, 2015, and is hosted by the Electronic Literature Research Group at the University of Bergen. Pre-conference workshops will take place on August 4th. BEK supports the conference with equipment.
An evening of expressive Live-electronics and visuals by Tijs Ham, Bjornar Habbestad & Birk Nygård. The turbulances within the tubes of the flute are matched by the complex behaviors of feedback mixers. And if this isn’t enough… we also have lasers!
The June Exhibition at Kunstnerforbundet holds a long tradition of focusing on young artists. This year’s edition focus on the aspiring art scene from Bergen, Norway. The exhibition is curated by Benedicte Clementsen and Johanne Hestvold. BEK supports several artists with equipment and technical advise.
What do women talk about behind closed doors?
For one year now, 15 women in Bergen have shared personal experiences about relationships, gender and identity. At Agalausfestivalen in Voss, the women themselves premier edited abstracts from these talks.
nyMusikk invites you on a sound excursion to the high-end speaker factory SEAS in Moss, starting with a bus ride from Oslo that includes a literary lecture on sound by UK musician, author and critic David Toop. The anechoic chamber at SEAS features a sound installation by Trond Lossius, and in the factory space, vocalist and composer Stine Janvin Motland will demonstrate a new measuring and musical instrument that detects and regenerates body frequencies
Static theatre is a new type of theatre researched and experimented on by Jingyi Wang. She looks at the collaboration between visual arts, electronic arts and theatre, but also the boundary between exhibition and performance in an attempt to seek out the theatre’s essence as an art form. BEK has developed hardware and contributed with artistic and practical advisory. Performances at Studio USF 3. May at 15:00, 17:00 and 19:00
Material Vision – Silent Reading is a film and series of prints by Espen Sommer Eide, based on the creation of new musical instruments and a performance developed on Bear Island. Exhibition opening at Trykkeriet, and filmscreening at Landmark.
Rural Reading Room is a series of collective actions that aim at reconfiguring objects, materials and sounds, highlighting the materiality of the landscape. The format consists of a tabletop, where the arrangement of objects placed on the table reconstruct a fragmented, concrete and material landscape.
