In Which the Smallest Gestures Become Epic

A Norwegian artist group, InEpic, are invited to KOCHI – MUZIRIS Biennial in India, to participate in the current conversation about women’s rights. Here, different topics of feminism are treated with different artistic expressions, with exhibitions and seminars. One of the artists who are participating is Gitte Sætre. BEK has assisted her in the preparation of video material for the biennial.

SOLUND LIGHT ART FESTIVAL 2014

SOLUND LIGHT ART FESTIVAL 2014 focuses on light as a medium for art and experiences. The goal of the project is to create a local, national and international commitment for light and visual expression. Solund municipality is located where the Sognefjord meets the North sea, and much of the activities will take place in and around Hardbakke center, in the November darkness.

Lemur on Island – workshop and concert in Harpa

As part of the realization of the project Critical Band, Lemur and Bjørnar Habbestad were conducting acoustic tests and a workshop with musicians from the Iceland Symphony Orchestra. The work led up to the concert at the festival Tectonics in April.

Arduino workshop – Fully booked

Søren Andreasen will hold an Arduino workshop at BEK. The workshop fee is 500,- NOK, for this you get an Arduino Uno Kit to work on. New dates for the workshop is 24. NOV – 28. NOV. Beginners from Monday 24. and more experienced from Wednesday 26.

Jamoma developer workshop

Jamoma developers from France, US, England and Norway team up for a workshop at BEK in March. The workshop will focus on finalising specifications and implementation of model-view-controller separation for the upcoming 0.6 release, and speculate on future directions for development.

Hardware Hacking Workshop by Nic Collins

BEKs first workshop this semester is in collaboration with Lydgalleriet. Nic Collins, known as the writer of “Handmade Electronic Music – the Art of Hardware Hacking” will hold a 3-days workshop in connection with the building of the Alvin Lucier exhibition. Advanced Jitter workshop

Wesley Smith of Cycling’74 will be holding a one-week advanced Jitter workshop at BEK in February 2014. Jitter is the video and 3D graphics component of Max. This workshop will focus on advanced creative work with Jitter and OpenGL, including GLSL programming using gen, physical modelling, and more.

Modality workshop at BEK

Modality is a network of electronic musicians and developers from six nations. They are gathered now 4 days in Bergen for updating and further development. The purpose is to improve the facilitation of artistic processes through coordinated programming and to share and develop new musical tools.

All Lights on Solund

BEK is involved in the light festival in Solund in November 2013. Anne Marthe Dyvi and HC Gilje are participating artists and have contributed to the development of the format.
