Sound installation by Katy Penny, where BEK develops the interactive side of the installation. A door is placed in the middle of the room, it can be opened and closed, but you can also walk around it. What you choose affects the soundscape of the installation. At Galleri VOX the 22. – 30. PASSAGE (Part 1) Passage (Part 1) is a digital Video Projeksjon 2013. It will be shown at Galleri S12, during the month of Januari. The projection is only to be seen from the outside, so it is best to pass by at night. BEK supported the exhibition with equipment.

Volt presents Maia Urstad : CARGO

Just about everything we surround ourselves with has been in a container at some point. The exhibition CARGO examines questions of communication across borders by land and by sea, the distribution of goods and benefits, access to resources and consumption and transport routes. It relates these themes to the schoolroom or classroom, a place where worldviews are made and knowledge is imparted to those who are to further develop society and democracy.

Jamoma developer workshop

Jamoma developers from France, US, England and Norway team up for a workshop at BEK in March. The workshop will focus on finalising specifications and implementation of model-view-controller separation for the upcoming 0.6 release, and speculate on future directions for development.

During a period of two months Anders Elsrud Hultgreen has been working and developing Evighetens Avkom, a video commisioned by BEK. This video has recently been shown for the first time at Stavanger Screen City, and now Anders will present his process and the work to us. The presentation will take place on 14.02 from 12h – 13h. Bergen leser: Skogen i Hjartet

Se og Les Barne- og ungdoms­litteratur­konferanse finner sted i Bergen 3-5 februar 2014, og samler forfattere, formidlere, illustratører, foredragsholdere, kulturarbeidere og kritikere fra hele landet. I løpet av konferansen vil deltagerne benytte installasjonen Bergen Leser ved Bergen offentlige bibliotek til å lese inn diktsamlingen “Skogen i hjartet” av Hanne Bramness.

The project ascends from biologist Emil Korsmo’s (1863-1953) profoundly detailed and methodically preserved compilation of own material from a lifelong research into combating weeds.

Baltan Laboratories continues the Natlab legacy

In 2014 Baltan Laboratories in Eindhoven celebrates the centenary of the establishment of the Phillips Natlab. For the anniversary Marieke Verbiesens has written an essay, which takes a short detour around Natlab’s rich and unique’s history in relation to 100 years of Natlab and Baltan’s future ambitions.
