Picture Me Dance is a collaboration project between artist Fredrik Rysjedal and the contemporary dancer Marit Loe Bjørnstad. The project will consist of three acts, and the first of them, “My Old Kimono”, will be shown at Octoberdans in Bergen 21. 10. 2012. BEK supports the project with equipment.

BEK is pleased to welcome Nathan Wolek as a Fulbright Scholar. Nathan will be a guest researcher at BEK for 6 months commencing August 1 2012. During the stay his research will be focusing on granular synthesis, and more specifically on porting The Granular Toolkit, a package for creating granular synthesis effects within Max, to Jamoma.

The paper An Automated Testing Suite for Computer Music Environments by Nils Peters , Trond Lossius & Tim Place will be presented at Sound and Music Computing Conference 2012 in Copenhagen. Software development benefits from systematic testing with respect to implementation, optimization, and maintenance. The paper reports on how automated testing is implemented and used for Jamoma to test C++ code as well as Max externals and patches.

The paper SpatDIF: Principles, specification, and examples by Nils Peters , Jan Schacher & Trond Lossius will be presented at Sound and Music Computing Conference 2012 in Copenhagen. SpatDIF, the Spatial Sound Description Interchange Format, offers a semantic and syntactic specification for storing and transmitting spatial audio scene descriptions. The paper provides an overview of the specification and discuss two use cases.
