Open call: Studio Residencies at BEK

We are reopening our studios and spaces for short term project residencies at BEK. If you are working on an art project involving sound, moving image or electronics you are welcome to apply for a residency in one of our studios for a period of 2-4 weeks. The residencies are open to professional artists and we prioritise projects that are experimental in their use of technology, or interrogate its relationship to art and society. We offer our facilities and equipment, and expect artists to work independently, however Studio Residents are also able to apply for advice sessions with our in-house experts to help with specific project needs.

Sound studio
BEK offers a modern soundproof and flexible sound studio for composing/mixing sound and simple recordings. The room is equipped with a 5.1 Dynaudio AIR 6 speaker setup, but it is easy to change to the speaker configuration that your project needs. For larger experiments with multi-channel sound, we recommend that you also book the project room and set up our 8 Genelec 8040 or 6 Genelec 8020 with Subwoofer to the desired configuration. You can either use the sound studio’s iMac with software such as Max, Supercollider, Reaper, Live, Cubase and Izotope RX and Ozone, and connect to MOTU sound card. Or you can bring your own laptop.
Video studio
Our video studio is optimal for working with video and animation projects. The studio is equipped with 2 4k screens and 2 active audio monitors, and a Mac Pro 2013 with Pegasus NAS system and access to editing programs such as Final Cut Pro, Dragon Stopmotion and Adobe Creative Cloud. You can also easily work on your own laptop by connecting the speakers and the screens.
Electronics lab
In the electronics lab, you can create everything electronically using components, Potmeters, Servos and sensors. We have a soldering station with adjustable temperature, table lamp with magnifying glass, Multiclamp, Dremel with accessories, Drill press and much more.
Project room
We have one large project room that can easily be converted into two smaller ones with a partition. The project room has floor space and plenty of daylight, and a flat screen and projector are installed. If you need space for your project, we recommend that you also book a project room.
Please note, that we offer our production facilities only, and do not cover travel, accommodation or project costs.
Regarding infection control: At BEK, we comply with current guidelines from the authorities in connection with covid-19 and facilitate all work and visits accordingly. We expect everyone visiting and using our premises to also comply with the guidelines in force at any given time.
