The five works shares raw and poetic artistic qualities in thorough investigations of technological presence in past, present and future society, ranging from galactic advertisement through surveillance to consumer comfort.
BEK has assisted the development of one of the works, Plantedata, a kinetic sculpture presenting a slow fight between computer and plant. Will the plant eventually grow into and overheat or short circuit the computer, or will the presence of poisonous substances in the computer contaminate the plant?
The computer is running a Max patch making a timelapse video of the growing plant with new images captured with one hour intervals.
