As a 10-year-old ​​Øyvind Skarbø (1982, Håkon Kornstad, Honeyleap) created his first band, “Bly de Blyant” (the Lead Pencil). After 20 years of searching, he found two individuals that were needed to realize the genre-neutralizing trio. From Brooklyn, New York, came multi-instrumentalist Shahzad Ismaily (Marc Ribot Ceramic Dog, Yoko Ono, Bonnie Prince Billy), one of the world s most unusual musicians. And by boat from the Island came the extremely influential guitarist Hilmar Jensson (TYFT, Jim Black’s AlasNoAxis).
The concert at the Landmark marks releases the total unclassified album “ABC”, which is published on Hubro. Politically incorrect riff, free improvisation, pseudo-classical, contemporary, blues and abstract stand-up, all come together into what we can only call “Bly de Blyant”.
