During the past week at BEK, Jenny Berger Myhre and Niklas Adam began their first collaborative project, in which they use computational processing to mimic and blend into natural soundscapes and landscapes. They have been working in BEK’s project space, developing a new audiovisual performance as a duo, using a quadraphonic speaker system.

Their project, currently titled Mapping Reveries, is an investigation into early memories of experiencing spaces and landscapes — how these spaces live on in our memories and dreams, and how the feeling of a place can be manifested through sound and music.

As part of their research, they have gone on field trips to gather material — recording sound, taking photographs, and conducting Lidar scans. During their residency, they have also created a sound bank by building and recording acoustic objects, developed their instrument in SuperCollider, processed material in TouchDesigner, and crafted small biomaterial sculptures.

Jenny Berger Myhre

Jenny Berger Myhre (b. 1991) is a multidisciplinary artist working with sound, video, and photography. Her work aims to move beyond expectations of virtuosic musical gestures by focusing on sound itself and the mental images it evokes. She is inspired by listening as a relational act — a way of connecting with the world and with other beings.
