Studio Residency: Ina Hagen
Published
Ina Hagen is working in the BEK sound studio and project space, editing video and sound recordings for two new works.
One – which explores a study of fossilized plants that was published by the University of Oslo and The Museum of Central Africa, Tervuren in Brussels in 1960 – uses material recorded while in residence at WIELS Contemporary Art Centre in Brussels this year, with the support of OCA. The second, with the working title “By Any Other Name”, is a moving image work developed together with director Christian Holm-Glad, and using video material shot by Holm-Glad for the publicity campaign of the norwegian state-owned energy company Statoil to promote their name-change to Equinor in 2018. This project builds on Hagen’s previous work with Equinor’s name-changing campaign, “Fire Nation” (2021), and is supported by Norsk Kulturfond.
Hagen’s visit to Bergen is being organised in cooperation between BEK and aerial. During her stay, Hagen will undertake a residency and present her work at aerial, both on the evening of September 19th and during B-Open on September 21st.
