Verktøykassen: Introduction to motion with motors
Published
For this Verktøykassen (the Toolbox) we have invited the artist David A. Rios to teach us the basics of mechanical transmission of power. We will use simple electrical motors, gears, pulleys and other means of transmission to implement movement into your works.
Date: Thursday 3 June, at 11.00-15.00
Place: The workshop will be held at BEK, C. Sundtsgate 55.
Sign-up to bek@bek.no by 27 May. There are 6 places only, which will be offered on a first come, first served basis.
BEK will supply the participants with the needed components for this workshop. It will be possible to ask questions that are relevant to your own art project, but please register these in advance. Verktøykassen is a free event, open to all and will be held in Norwegian and/or English as appropriate.
In the upcoming Verktøykassen workshops, we will focus on modeling our own motors with the 3D software Fusion, and simple programming of motors with Arduino. Stay tuned for more information!

About Verktøykassen
Verktøykassen (the Toolbox) at BEK is a space to learn and try out technical tools, both hardware and software. Sessions are hands-on, highly interactive and open to people with different levels of experience. Verktøykassen takes place regularly, with a different theme each time. Participants are invited to share ideas or questions with the group, which is often led by game developer and programmer Stian Remvik. Sometimes we also invite in others to learn us things we can’t ourselves.
