This autumn, Trond Lossius ended his position at BEK as Research Coordinator, in order to take up a new post as Head of Artistic Research and Fellowship Programme at Oslo National Academy of the Arts. Trond has been active at BEK since its very beginning in 2000, as Director, Technical Manager for Sound Art, and as a pioneer of artistic development.

BEK has made the decision to address this change by expanding two of our already existing positions. From the 1st January 2018, Marieke Verbiesen and Espen Sommer Eide will become Advisors for Art and Technology. BEK intends to strengthen our technical and professional expertise by drawing upon existing resources. Anne Marthe Dyvi will continue in her position as Artistic Developer.

Marieke Verbiesen studied at The Royal Academy of Art & Design in s-Hertogenbosch, and at the FMI Interactive Media Environments in Groningen. She works with animation and web- and motion design, within the field of electronic art. At BEK, Marieke advises on video editing, DIY solutions and software for HD & 4K. She will also have responsibility for the upcoming artist in residence programme, “BEK Studio Sessions”. From 1st January 2018, Marieke will take on a 30% position. She can be reached by appointment.

Espen Sommer Eide is an artist and musician, educated in Philosophy at The University of Bergen. “Phonophani” is his musical solo project. Espen also makes up one half of the band “Alog”. In addition to touring extensively at home and abroad, he has also produced a series of artworks and installations. At BEK, Espen will advise in relation to sound art, electronics and programming, as well as initiate cross disciplinary projects and a series of sound based workshops. From 1st January 2018, he will take on a 30% position. He can be reached by appointment.
