Frans Jacobi
Frans Jacobi (b. 1960, Copenhagen) works with performance, film and text. His art addresses political crises, seen through dark poetic humor. His performances and installations are often large-scale scenarios with multiple participants adressing a range of political and societal issues. Using a kind of urgent aesthetics, the temporality and presence becomes a point in itself.
In 2015 Jacobi started the ongoing research-project Synsmaskinen: 7 fields of contemporary crisis based at the Faculty of Art, Music and Design at the University of Bergen. In 2017, he and Gitte Sætre initiated The Green Hijab Movement. Jacobi is Professor of Time-based Art and Head of Department at the Academy of Fine Arts – department of Contemporary Art, University of Bergen. He completed his PhD Aesthetics of Resistance at Malmö Art Academy/Lunds University in 2012.
