BEK 23.09.2023 12.0023.09.2023 17.00

Welcome to Bergen Centre for Electronic Arts during B-open!

Al Skua and Marcel del Castillo – current artists at studio residency at BEK – will open the doors to their working spaces and share excerpts from ongoing projects. In addition, you can listen to our new quadrophonic sound system in the project room, where BEK’s producer in art and technology Morten Norbye Halvorsen will demonstrate work-in-progress with machine learning tools.

The event is part of B-Open 2024, and will take place on Saturday 23 September from 12:00 to 17:00. B-Open is an annual art festival in September where professional artisans and visual artists open their studios to the public. The festival has free access and is aimed at all age groups.

Open video studio: Marcel del Castillo

Artist Marcel del Castillo is working in BEK’s video studio during two weeks in September, editing the video essay Memorial y Conocimiento; El Agua de las Acequias (Memory and Knowledge; The water of Acequias). During B-Open, he will show excerpts of his work-in-progress.

Open sound studio: Al Skua

Sound artist Al Skua works in BEK’s sound studio, exploring recordings of electromagnetic fields, made with Skua’s self-constructed microphones.

Open project room: Morten Norbye Halvorsen

Artist and producer in art and technology at BEK, Morten Norbye Halvorsen, works in the project room with BEK’s new quadrophonic speaker setup. There will be an opportunity to hear some of the projects that are under development at BEK and the processes behind, among other things, machine learning models, multi-channel field recording and audio restoration.
