BEK invites artists working with video and new media to join an introductory workshop in multichannel video installation led by artist Samuel Brzeski. Brzeski will introduce the principles and considerations for working with multiple video channels, and give some practical examples of technical set-ups.

In this workshop we will investigate the conceptual motivations and technical executions of working with multichannel video installations. This will include an introduction to various options for playback, investigating synchronised vs non-synchronised methodologies, setting up video editing workspaces, and a practical introduction to working with BrightSign synchronised media players. All the while through, we will consider various conceptual and artistic motivations for working in this manner, including considerations of space, rhythm, pace and environment.

Time: 19 November, 11:00–17:30. Lunch will be provided.
Place: BEK, C. Sundts gt 55, 9th floor
Sign-up: *This workshop was quickly fully booked! Sign up to be on the waiting list, and we will contact you if spots become available: Sign-up link

Participants will be introduced to organising multichannel video projects in Adobe Premiere Pro, and will set up their own synchronised multichannel video installations using Brightsign Players programmed through the BA Connected program.

The workshop is suitable for artists working with video and sound who want to make installation environments. Participants should have some experience with working with video, but no experience of working with multichannel is necessary.

Participants should bring an existing project or some video footage to work with, and their own laptops, preferably with Adobe Premiere Pro installed or something similar (the 7-day trial version can also be used). If you don’t have a laptop or editing software then please let us know so we can group you with another participant who does.

SAMUEL BRZESKI

Samuel Brzeski is an artist, writer and publisher originally from London but based mostly in Bergen, Norway. He works with language as raw material—moulding, stretching and transforming texts on screens, on the page and through sound. In recent years he has been focusing upon the way our relationship to language has changed, is forever changing, within post-digital culture. This has unfolded in a serious of theatrical multimedia installations, vocal performances, and texts. www.samuelbrzeski.com
