Join us for a workshop at BEK where we dive into an artistic approach to A.I. and neural audio synthesis applied to sound and music. The three-day workshop focuses on the workflow behind training generative AI models and developing an artistic practice using these tools, such as RAVE (Realtime Audio Variational autoEncoder) and open source multi-modal audio generative systems. This workshop offers participants the opportunity to understand and implement the pipeline of neural audio synthesis—from data collection and model training to artistic implementations for sound design and musical expression.

At the Bergen Art Book Fair, BEK launched the new publication Al-Mashrou’ A Conversation Between Shuruq Harb and Samira Makki. Project developer Åse Løvgren presented the publication at the Bergen Art Book Bath at Nordnes Sjøbad.

BEK is participating in the Bergen Art Book Fair from April 3–6, with a presentation of a new interview publication with Shuruq Harb at this year’s Bergen Art Book Bath, and three printed works at Bergen Art Book Fair. We will also participate in the exhibition Bergen Art Book Hike at Galleri Kronborg on the top of mount Rundemanen with Gadder by Ingrid Bjørnaali. The printed works for sale are Al-Mashrou’ – A Conversation between Shuruq Harb and Samira Makki, Gadder by Ingrid Bjørnaali and Shit Out Here Purple by Roy Claire Potter.

Borealis presents the Norwegian premiere of a new work by multifaceted Palestinian artist Dakn داكنْ. The piece was commissioned by BEK in collaboration with Another Sky Festival, and premiered at Cafe Oto in London in the autumn of 2024.

Curves & Reverbs is a participatory performance that builds on Mona Hedayatis’ previous performances done with biosensors, taking as its departure point her experience of migration and exile. It is part sonification and part visualization of biosensor data.
