The flutist and improviser Bjørnar Habbestad is, as mentioned before on this website, collaborating with Pascal Baltazar on a joint commission from BEK and GMEA. Their piece is designed for flute, interfaces, and live electronics, to be performed by:

Bjørnar Habbestad : Flute and electronics
Pascal Baltazar : Gestural electroacoustic instrument
Benjamin Maumus : Live sound projection

To perform in front of a live audience is essential as part of the developing prosess, so this concert will be one step towards the premiere in Bergen at the Borealis festival in 2011.

The consert will be broadcast on BBC Radio 3’s Hear and Now on February 20th.

At Borealis London Launch names and headliners at the 2010 Borealis festival will be announced. But we can already reveal that one of the exciting performers will be Gerhard Eckel, who is putting up a brand, new sound installation called the Catabolizer at Lydgalleriet. Eckel will make an artist talk at HKS about this project and his work in general.

Bjørnar Habbestad and Pascal Baltazar’s work is jointly commissioned with support from the Norwegian Arts Council, the French State and the Municipality of Bergen.
