BEK has commissioned a new electro-acoustic composition from Anders Vinjar, one of the foremost experts in Norway on OpenMusic and computer-aided composition. The commisioned work will make use of ambisonics coding, shaping and decoding, algorithmic composition, artistic programming and work with 3D sound and spatialization.
BEK also supports Anders in his effort to port Open Music to Linux, and over the next year we are planning several exciting workshops relating to OpenMusic.

BEK and Bergen Public Library collaborates on development of Les HØYT!, an arena for reading aloud. Citizens of Bergen and users of the library will be invited to contribute towards a collective reading of litterature for an unknown audience by means of a digital installation.
Reading activities will commence during the fall 2013. Stian Remvik has been hired by BEK to do the technical development. Les Høyt! is supported by National Library of Norway and Arts Council Norway.

For a two year period 2012-2014 BEK participation in the development of Jamoma is supported by Hordaland County Council. Development will be focusing on control of real-time processing environments in live productions, development of flexible interfaces, and work on surround sound. The project encompass development, documentation, developer and training workshops, and the use of Jamoma in various art projects.

Max 6.1 introduced a new feature called Packages, making it easier to distribute 3rd party extensions to Max. In order to cater for Jamoma users eager to use Max 6.1.we have now added a hand-crafted package for Jamoma 0.5.7 to the Jamoma web site.

Jamoma 0.5.7 has just been announced. This is the result of extensive development over the past year. Jamoma is a framework for structured modular programming in Max, offering rich possibilities for controlling modules and patches by means of mappings and cues, etc. In particular Jamoma has a lot to offer in terms of modules for sound spatialisation and work on musical gestures.
BEKs conributions are to a large degree made possible by generous support from the County Council of Hordaland.

The Jamoma web site has been long overdue for an overhaul. Over Christmas extensive development has been carried out. The new web site consolidate information, tutorials and a news section.
Jamoma is a set of software frameworks for real-tme media processing in artistic and creative projects.

Modality is a loose collaboration between both developers and users of SuperCollider, an environment and programming language for real time audio synthesis and algorithmic composition. In spring 2013 BEK will host a developer workshop. Prior to this, BEK contributes to a SuperCollider HID-update.

”MUSEUM II”, commisioned by Ny Musikk Kristiansand was performed at the Edge Of Wrong Festival in Kristiansand 22. September, and will be performed at the Sound Silo (Avgarde) 13. October in Bergen. BEK supports the project with equipment for documentation.

For the opening of Stavanger Konserthus, Ole Hamre has been commisioned to compose a new work that will be performed outdoor. Soloists are Arve Henriksen (trumpet), Jan Heinke (vocals) and Ståle Storløkken (keyboards). In addition veteran boats on the harbor joins in as part of the composition.
The software and server solution for communication with the boats has been developed at BEK.
