BEK and Bergen Public Library collaborates on development of Les HØYT!, an arena for reading aloud. Citizens of Bergen and users of the library will be invited to contribute towards a collective reading of litterature for an unknown audience by means of a digital installation.
Reading activities will commence during the fall 2013. Stian Remvik has been hired by BEK to do the technical development. Les Høyt! is supported by National Library of Norway and Arts Council Norway.

For a two year period 2012-2014 BEK participation in the development of Jamoma is supported by Hordaland County Council. Development will be focusing on control of real-time processing environments in live productions, development of flexible interfaces, and work on surround sound. The project encompass development, documentation, developer and training workshops, and the use of Jamoma in various art projects.

The Choreography of Sound (CoS) is a 3 year arts-based research project funded by the Austrian Science Fund FWF (PEEK AR41) and carried out at the Institute of Electronic Music and Acoustics IEM. BEK is a partner in the project, alongside CIRMMT in Montreal/Canada, ICST in Zurich/Switzerland and IRCAM in Paris/France.

BEK is pleased to welcome Nathan Wolek as a Fulbright Scholar. Nathan will be a guest researcher at BEK for 6 months commencing August 1 2012. During the stay his research will be focusing on granular synthesis, and more specifically on porting The Granular Toolkit, a package for creating granular synthesis effects within Max, to Jamoma.

Asbjørn Blokkum Flø is currently working on a new BEK-commissioned music piece. He describes his work as follows: -Analogique IX is a 60 minute long electronic music piece where I try to get back to the electronic music’s musical core through a limitation in materials and methods. In connection with this work I will investigate new artistic concepts and compositional techniques._

Marìa Andueza Olmedo is writhing a PhD thesis about Sound Art called “Urban Site-Specific Sound Installations”. Thanks to a grant of the NILS mobility project for researchers and artists, she will move from Madrid to Bergen for 3 months, to continue her research at BEK and at the National Academy of the Arts.

Moving Image – cultural celebration versus cultural assimilation
This is a one-year project between four media art organisations in the UK, Latvia, Bulgaria and Norway and facilitates the movement and exchange of artists and media art in four very different European countries. ‘At Home in Europe’ is about the production and distribution of artworks using digital media and promoting the co-operation and professional development between the partner organisations.
