BEK assists the impro ensemble Lemur in the development of a commisioned work from Ny Musikk Bergen (New Music Bergen). Based on acoustic analysis and measurements of four Norewgian churches the ensemble will develop a work tailored to the particular acoustics of each of the buildings. The project is taking place in collaboration with Arup Acoustic in New York.

At the 18th of March Anne Marthe Dyvi will present the performance, ‹‹Grundplan for kunstens naturlige system. Som sopp››, (In english: like fungi) at The university of Bergen, Faculty of Humanities – Art History.

March 11th BEK will present an evening event at gallery KNIPSU in Bergen. The first edition of Rad is a presentation, installation, lecture and concert. Participants are Ellen Røed, Espen Sommer Eide, Maia Urstad, Steinar Bøyum, Anne Marthe Dyvi, Hans Knut Sveen and Knipsu Soundsystem.

Bjørnar Habbestad, Pascal Baltazar and Benjamin Maumus invites you to an artist talk at WRAP Thursday 24. In connection with the Unruhige Raüme consert in Hakonshallen at the Borealis Festival, their rehearsal period at Wrap this week gives a perfect opportunity to share questions concerning their musical research.

Oslo University College (OUC) has taken the initiative to establish a Nordic journal for research on and in the arts. Work on the magazine kicks off with a two-day seminar where the journal profile will be discussed. Trond Lossius at BEK will join the editorial board.

This week the newly refreshed soundstudio at Bek (temporarily renamed “Studio Alog”), plays host to experimental band Alog, working on new material for an upcoming album on the Rune Grammofon label.

Håkonshallen is celebrating its 750th aniversary this year, and BEK have been asked to participate in the making of the celebration.

BEK assists the composer Knut Vaage in the development of the opera “Khairos”. The opera is comissioned by The Norwegian National Opera & Ballet and is planned to be premiered in 2012. Vaage’s previous opera “Veslefrikk”, where BEK also contributed, won the ARTE audience award for best production at Armel Opera Competition and Festival in Hungary.
