We are incredibly proud and happy to wish you welcome to the new BEK! The last two weeks in January 2019, we invite old and new colleagues and partners to the opening party, presentations and workshops in our new premises. It will also be possible to get an introduction to the studios and to our new routines. Save the dates – join us and celebrate!

Crash course in filmmaking
Monday January 21st and Tuesday January 22nd
10.00 – 16.00 hours, both days

Presentation by Thorolf Thuestad

Thorolf Thuestad is a well-known and dear sound-maestro in the cultural field of Bergen. He will present his current research project at KMD, and show and share knowledge about robots, automation and the machines themselves. He will not come alone. Read more here.

Post-truth soundart – a conversation between Siri Austeen og Espen Sommer Eide
Friday January 25th at 14.00 – 16.00

Siri Austeen and Espen Sommer Eide have in their practices in different ways related to sound recording or “field recording” – a term that may mistakenly give the impression that the sound must be retrieved in exotic and dangerous places. BEK has invited them to a conversation where they present different projects they have participated in and discuss examples of how they have practically embraced field recording as an artistic strategy. Presentation by Sabine Popp

Sabine Popp’s presentation will be based on her work as a research fellow at the Art Academy – Institute of Contemporary Art, KMD. Common Notions is conceived as a performance-lecture and is part of the project Agential Matter (Invisible Landscapes), which examines performativity of algae, objects and bodies in instances of observation in scientific research, economic interests and artistic encounter along the coast. In this presentation, Kjersti Sundland will be sharing marginal and occluded concepts on how human made electromagnetic radiation and the earth’s electromagnetic radiation seem to interweave and coagulate, and to resurface as fissures, or specters in our perception, language and modes of attention.
