The work places the listening body in a time-space continuum where nature and culture co-exist and are given equal importance, giving ear to the eternal variation of voices and spaces; the geophonies and anthrophonies of Røst.

Røster III is a sound work for eight channels or more, created and composed by Elin Mar Øyen Vister, site specifically mixed and spatialized in collaboration with Trond Lossius and BEK in Bergen.

At Deichmanske hovedbibliotek, Røster III will be experienced in the old music room, which has a hexagonal space and was originally acoustically treated for the purpose of listening to the music library. The installation is created around a set up of eight speakers arranged in a vertical and a horizontal landscape, between the books in the bookshelves, and the room will at most times have no lights. The listening sense is hence given sensual priority in our otherwise dominantly visual culture.

Maja S. K. Ratkje will be joining as guest performer on WeDoMagic at the opening of the installation.

Kristine Tjøgersen (clarinet). Inga Byrkjeland (cello). Maja S. K. Ratkje (vocal). Elin Mar Øyen Vister (mix, objects og electronics).

Entrance to the opening is free, as part of Oslo cultural night.
