GUISE is Benedicte Leinan Clementsen’s first solo exhibition, opening at Prosjektrom Normanns in Stavanger Friday 12.november. There she shows a 4-channel video installation about how we relate to our pets. The work was produced, using BEK’s equipment and was set up in collaboration with Stian Remvik (BEK) with the help of the Multiscreener software.

Benedicte Clementsen (born Oslo, 1986) is an artist, residing in Bergen. Based on performance, her work takes shape like video, installation, photography and text. Her practice ranges from self-initiated projects, commissions, cooperation to curating. Clementsen is currently conducting MA Art Praxis at DAI, the Dutch Art Institute in the Netherlands, in parallel with her work for the artistic research project SYNSMASKINEN at the Bergen Art and Design College.

“Vi snakker endeløst til kjæledyrene våre. Hvorfor? For å dra dem nærmere. Vi spøker om at vi er misunnelige på dem: Tanketomme. Vi spøker om at vi skulle ønske vi kunne lese tankene deres. Tror vi det ville vært en speiling? Vi imiterer kjæledyrene våre, speiler dem tilbake: Jeg ser deg. Ser du meg?”
